Most Inspiring Person Academically To Me by Leighshana - October 2019 Scholarship Essay
Inspiration is very important when completing certain task. Most times people are able to accomplish certain goals, is because they had someone inspire them to do it. The person that most inspired me academically is my mom. She has inspired me through going to school while raising me and working hard.
My mom inspired me through how after she had me, she continued to push for her degree. I remember her attending night school and spending many late nights working on assignments. As a young child, I would become jealous with her spending so much time working on her assignments. I didn’t understand until I grew up how important your assignments are. She would always push and reach for good grades and not once did she slack. She was always studying. She also didn’t let having a baby stop her from getting her education. She pushed through that stereotype and went for her degree. She not only went to school but she also worked. In total, she accomplished three things. She raised me, went to school, and worked. She showed me that I can go to school and work at the same time if you put your mind to it and managed your time. If I was to have a child while in school and working, whether during my Master’s or PHD, my mom has already set the foundation that tells me I can do it. She would manage her time so well with a schedule she would follow that told when she had time to do everything. The schedule would work as well because she would always get everything done. That is a procedure I have learned from her. When she graduated, I was so proud to see my mom accomplish so much and do well while doing it.
My mom inspires me through how hard she works. My mom works very hard at her job. On top of working, she continues to push herself to gain more knowledge in different areas in life. She is exceptionally good at math but she continues to practice her skills in reading, social studies, and the sciences. She also watches many environmental series like “Planet Earth” to gain knowledge on the world around us. She somehow convinced me to start the series as well. She is constantly reading books and taking test to stay alert on certain concepts. As a teacher, she continues to learn more from her students and uses her time after work, to learn more to help her students. She also does riddles with me to keep the brain alert and make sure we think critically at all times. With her degrees, seeing my mom put them to work and make such an impact on other children’s lives, is so inspirational.
