Passion for Photography by Leah - August 2017 Scholarship Essay

As a college professor, you have to be both knowledgeable and adaptive. You have to be able to appreciate the work of others as well as correct anything without hard feelings. The easiest way to accomplish this is by teaching something that you're passionate about. With that in mind, if I was a college professor, I would choose to teach a photography class.

In photography, you can use your creativity to your advantage. There isn't a straightforward right or wrong way to take a photograph. A professor can teach different techniques that may be applicable in different situations, but that doesn't mean that a photograph that is taken without planning is any worse. An amateur can show you something just as exciting as a professional. This is what makes this field of study so interesting to me. Every time someone snaps a photograph, you get to experience something differently.

As a professor, I would be able to observe so many different points of view of a single assignment since no two people would submit the exact same photograph. The interpretation of every situation can be seen without me having to step foot outside of my classroom. This is why it would be a dream come true to be a photography professor.
