Advice for Younger Students by Lauren - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
I have gained a lot of knowledge over the past few years not only from high school but from life in general. I have seen what things are important to focus on and I have seen what is important to steer clear of. I know that younger students can be scared when going to a new grade or even moving from middle school to high school and they could probably use some advice.
If I had to give younger students one piece of advice it would be don’t get too caught up in the big changes. I would tell them to make sure that they are focused on their studies above all else, but also have fun. We will never be this young again and they need to take advantage of every opportunity they get or else when they graduate they will regret it. I have learned that if you work hard on your studies, then have fun, that it will pay off in the future. I would tell the students that, although all the work and effort does not seem like it will pay off, it will all be worth it in the end, especially when you look back and see everything you have accomplished.
The transition into a new school or grade for younger students can be tough. That transition could probably be made easier with some advice from someone who has experienced it before. I know I would have loved to receive some advice when I was younger especially going into high school. With that in mind I would hope that my advice helps younger students in their future.
