Education Resolution for the New Year by Latece - December 2020 Scholarship Essay

Each year, we share common ambitions and goals that we hope to achieve to make ourselves better as individuals. These goals may be to lose weight, save money, buy a house, or even go back to school to finish a degree. These resolutions help us to feel better about ourselves, as well as, gives us something to look forward to for the future. This year, I am eager to accomplish something that is yet to be accomplished in my family until now. My 2021 resolution is to graduate college with a bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies in May.

Being that I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, this is the perfect resolution for the new year. With only three classes left to take in January and an intern, I am more motivated than ever to receive my degree in Educational Studies and Community Leadership. I look forward to walking across the stage in person, or virtually, and graduating with a GPA of 3.5. I am ecstatic to start my career in education. My lifelong passion for working with underprivileged students is within reach and nothing that life throws my way is going to hinder me from achieving my educational goals for the Spring semester.

Currently, I work in the School District of Manatee County as a paraprofessional. My day-to-day duties consists of filling in for teachers that call off, carrying out lesson plans they leave behind, and monitoring student behavior. Although similar tasks will be required when I become a full-time teacher, I am confident that I will be able to successful manage my own classroom while incorporating some of my learned teaching style that promote a diverse learning environment. With my bachelor’s degree, I can fully connect with my own group of students and build positive relationships they may be lacing at home due to their socioeconomic status, living arrangement etc. My resolution for education in 2021 will be the best one yet and one that I am determined to accomplish.

Kind Regards,
Latece Luther
