If I Were a Teacher by Lari - October 2016 Scholarship Essay

As a student, I have to take the basic subjects, including math, language, science, and social studies. I enjoy taking every subject, but if the roles were reversed, I would teach social studies. Social studies is a very good subject to teach because there are so many fields that you can go into including history, civics, economics, geography, psychology, and political science.
I would teach social studies because the government is always changing. This year would be a very good year to teach governmental classes because of the upcoming election in November. This subject is also very important because it involves every person in the world. No matter who you are, social studies connects to you in some way. Without this subject, many people would not be educated about their rights, our history, how the government works, and what your job is, by being a citizen.
The certain topic that I would at my school is civics and economics. I would teach this because it is very important that people know how their tax money is being spent, the roles of different people that they are voting for, and how to manage their money.
If I could teach any form of social studies, it would be psychology. I would teach psychology because it is what I want to study in college and I am going to go into this field. I would like to be a psychologist, so I would teach it because it is important for everybody to know how their brains work and different mental diseases. I believe that there should be more psychology classes in high schools. This would definitely be the number one subject that I would teach.
In conclusion, I believe that every subject is very important for everybody to know and learn about, however, social studies is the subject that affects your everyday life. I would teach this to try to help people have a greater understanding of the world that we live in and to inspire people to make a difference so that maybe they could go down in the history books.
