Welcome Freshmen,
Congratulations to making it to your first year of high school. High school is tougher than middle school but it's not unbeatable. Considering that throughout your high school years your slowly preparing for your SAT and college it's going to end up more challenging. The best thing you can do throughout your years in high school is turn in your assignments on time. You need ask questions when you do not understand what your learning. Always ask questions no matter if you do not think its a good question to ask; ask anyway because it'll help you in the long run.
Do not act out or decide to be the class clown. Being the class clown might entertain your classmates, but it does not impress your teacher at all. Staying on the teachers good side has always proven to be helpful especially when you need help. Try to volunteer as much as possible because colleges will look at your over all hours volunteering and that will greatly impress them. It's best to go to your counselor if you need anything or have certain problems they could possibly hear you out. Try to make friends because it's always nice to have someone to talk to. Also that helps you become more social, and it can also help when you have to partner with someone in class.
Join extra curricular activities or after school clubs. That's another way to get volunteer hours depending on the club you join. Being active through school activities will impress people. Being in sports could impress sponsors for colleges and it's always great to get college sponsors attention at such a early age.
