Sharing is Caring by Kylee - February 2025 Scholarship Essay

As they say, “sharing is caring,” and I love to share my love of horses. This last summer was my ninth opportunity to lead the community's youth in horse camp. Each camp, camper, and horse is different and I continue to find ways to reach my designated students. My goal is that each one leaves camp with knowledge, skills, experience, and a smile to hopefully spark a lifelong love of equine while remaining safe. When my campers arrive each day with excitement, and wish camp to never end, I feel blessed to be given this opportunity to share.
The two things that are most important to me are family and success. The summer before my freshman year we relocated to a tiny country town where I began public school for the first time. While homeschooling surrounded me with encouraging support, my education was often too laid-back. Finding the drive to get my public school work done was challenging at first considering I was no longer able to turn in work whenever I wanted, however I did not let it stop me from gaining the ambition. I came to the realization that public school had reshaped me but it did not change who I was as a person.
Homeschool taught me how to value myself and not let bumps in the road detour me from success. However, buckling down in eighth thru tenth grade so I could have the availability to enroll full-time into running start was beastly some days. Gaining this head start has meant learning to prioritize, and time management while taking difficult courses at a faster pace. Being hard working and efficient has allowed me to steer my life in the direction necessary. Having the support of my family ensured that I continued to gain self confidence, strength, and strong morals while meeting my goals.
