Professor Richardson, Comparative Politics by Kyle - August 2017 Scholarship Essay

Shaping young minds is an occupation that only the determined and influential should attempt to take on. The success of a society rest in the hands of few individuals that take on the heavy burden and insufficient payroll in hopes of moving mankind forward. Without educators, the expansion of knowledge that humans crave would become obsolete. Being an educator is a noble position that is gravely important to a civilization, however, most individuals do not see the occupation as a necessity. If I was to become a college professor, I would teach a comparative politics class.
Comparative politics deals with domestic politics, political institutions, and conflict between countries. I would like to teach this subject because this class makes you more politically aware and allows you to identify not only your political views, but also the views of others. The class provides the students with the necessary tools needed to efficiently communicate political views to others, such as colleagues, clients, or peers. I believe if I taught this subject, my students would easily grasp the vocabulary and concepts due to the versatile teaching methods I would provide. Statistics show that using multiple teaching methods will improve the class average significantly. Each class I would provide a different teaching method, whether it be by lecture, group collaboration, or hands on creative projects.
Touching on all the various teaching methods will also make my occupation fun and interesting. I would be the well rounded professor that can do both normal lectures and creative craft projects that appeal to the students. I am a charismatic individual and I believe as a professor I would be able to not only inform, but also entertain my students. Learning is only as fun as the teacher makes it.
