Leadership is a very important skill for college and in life. Leaders come up with their own ideas, get people to listen and support them and can problem solve. Leaders can go further than followers because they possess the skills necessary to keep moving up. They have confidence.

Some people are natural leaders. Others have to work at the skill. Being a leader helps accomplish many things. Including the skills mentioned above, you have the ability to negotiate and mediate problems. Especially in this social network era, you can gain support from all over the world. College is about developing who you are going to become in life.

High school students who are in leadership roles often turn into college students who are in leadershop roles. Those who are in leaderships positions in college are going to be in leadership positions in life. Employers look at leadership positions one held while in college. Those who show these skills can be put in managememt type of positions. They will be able to keep being promoted. One could move from a manager to district manager and on up.

In conclusion, you can go through college being a follower, but it is not going to benefit you as much in the long run. In this day and age, there is enough competition for jobs. You not only need a college degree, but the ability to stand out. It might make the difference between a great career and just a job.
