When I take my first steps onto a college campus and begin to live through all a college has to offer, that is when I will be able to fully appreciate the environment I am given the privilege of experiencing. Throughout my adolescence, I have always been told that going to college can be the best and worst times of your life. It is all about what you make out of it and as the end of high school nears, I realized that all the advice given to me is what I need to adhere to.

In my opinion, I think the experience I will be most thankful for is the ability of being by myself and given responsibilities that I need to follow on my own. There will be no one to hover over my shoulder, making sure I do what I need to do to survive and thrive in the environment that college has to offer. Surprisingly, I find that the scariest part. All my life, I had my parents taking care of me and keeping me on task and it is slightly overwhelming to think about how in one day, my parents will not be there and I will be in a dorm, having complete control over my life.

I know that I need that type of hardship in my life to better myself for the future, which is why I believe that with that obstacle, will come with great gratitude and appreciation. This is all the process of growing up and becoming an adult, and I am both nervous and excited to see what college experiences will be thrown my way.
