A Decision You’ll Never Forget
One of the most amazing experiences you’ll get to experience is when you study abroad. So many doors open up when you study abroad, therefore college students should be required to study abroad. When studying abroad you really learn about other people’s cultures, values, and most importantly, you learn more about yourself. Seeing how other people live their daily lives really makes you think about what you take for granted or even change how you to do things. Not only does studying abroad do all those things above, but who wouldn’t want to explore the world and be able to say they’ve seen The Eiffel Tower or walked on The Great Wall of China?
As a past exchange student in France, I have a strong opinion on this topic. Since I’ve been back, I have accomplished so many things and I’ve gotten a lot of great opportunities to help others and make an impact on my community and the world. After experiencing another lifestyle, you begin to change important decisions that you thought you had figured out before. You change where you might want to live, your profession, and everything in-between. You never realize what amazing things you’re doing for yourself when you’re abroad until you come back and use what you’ve learned over the course of your studies abroad.
Learning about other people’s cultures is very fascinating because you don’t always think about how others live around the world. Studying abroad is a great way to become more culturally diverse and create long-lasting relationships with people all over the world. The one thing I think our world struggles the most with, is accepting other’s beliefs and values. A lot of us look down at others if they do things differently than how we do things in America. That makes me sad to think that they are probably very self absorbed and have an inclosed personality.
Being able to say you’ve been to the most beautiful places in the world or doing things that you’ve never dreamed of is an exciting feeling and accomplishment. You’re happy 24/7 when you’re studying abroad because it’s not common for people to have enough guts to do something like that. Seeing The Eiffel Tower or walking on The Great Wall of China is something you’ll never forget no matter how old you get. Those experiences will always forever be your favorite memories.
Studying abroad gives you an electrifying feeling and will change your life forever. So many doors open up when you study abroad, therefore college students should be required to study abroad. Everyone should be more culturally diverse because we need to remind ourselves, not everyone has the same values or traditions. We need to accept others and even take in some of their unique traditions. You won’t only grow personally, but you’ll open up so many doors for your future.
