Outside The Box Thinking by kevin - October 2018 Scholarship Essay

To me, thinking outside of the box means to be different from the average way of thinking and to solve your own problems using the brain God gave you. Outside the box thinking is a more intelligent and different way of thinking. It means that even if it makes you feel a little uncomfortable, that it is okay to have different thoughts then everyone else. You can't make big changes to the world if you are thinking averagely.
First of all, many people will live, but not many will not have a beneficial, lasting impact on the world. Why does it seem like only a very few percentage of people have an impact on the world though? Well most people want to fit in, so they have developed pretty average ways of thinking, which leaves an average impact on the world. Because humans are wired to have a desire for fitting in and working together it can be very difficult to think outside the box. Sometimes you will be criticized for being different not being the same as everyone else. Things like this make it hard to truly do what is right and actually think out of the box. If you look at famous people from the past and analyze the behaviors and morals they developed, you will see a clear difference in the extraordinary way they thought compared to the average man/woman. If you take a look at the incredible life of Irena Slender, a woman who lived during the rule of Hitler risked her own life to save over 2,500 Jews from the Warsaw Ghettos. She started by getting a pass to the ghetto from the "Warsaw Epidemic Control Development". She visited the Ghetto every single day with food, medicine and clothing. Even though she would go out of her way to bring them these items, it wasn't enough, around 5,000 Jews in Warsaw were dying from starvation alone. Irena then decided to save as many Jewish children as she could and forged many fake documents for them and would sneak them out in ambulances. Irena would then find safe homes for the thousands of people she rescued. As you can see she did not have an average way of thinking, while the typical 16 year old girl was sitting at home, ignoring the monstrosity that was going on, Irena was creating fake ID's and finding places for Jews to stay after she would rescue them from the ghettos. She defied the Nazi's to do what was right, but felt uncomfortable. I can't even imagine how scary that must have been for a 16 year old girl to risk her own life by defying Nazi Germany, a country that literally massacred over 6 million people, just to save some. I cant even express how different and beautiful this girl's soul and thought process must have been. All I can say though, is Irena was definitely an outside the box thinker.
