Daily Grind by Kevin - August 2018 Scholarship Essay
If I had an educational podcast my topics would consist of how to help struggling college students get by. As a college student myself, I know the struggles of having to pay for books; therefore in my podcast I would attempt to help college students look at different websites in order for them to be able to afford their books for the upcoming semester. At times renting books is cheaper than buying a class book, but some students forget that some of their college book stores match the price for a rental or a full purchased book. In the podcast I will also remind students that there are million of dollars that go unclaimed via scholarships. Yes, I understand that some scholarships require essays and other hops to go through; however, some of those things are not as bad as they seem. As students we tend to say that we do not have time to do essays or fill out an entire application to possibly get some money for college. If I had a podcast I can remind my fellow students that to get what we need in life sometimes we need to make time. During the podcast I can let them know that if we do not put the effort we will never have a shot at success or even to get a financial assist towards our education. If we choose not to jump through those same hoops that we see as a barrier to get the assist that we need we will never know if they are worth it. As students we want everything handed to us, but at the same time we forget that there is something that we need to give in return, in some cases its filling out some application or even writing a small essay. A podcast will be a good way to reach out the mass of college students that think that their situation is unique and be able to show them that there are other students struggling the same way that they are. I know many college students that are surviving of noodles that are of brand in order for them to save money, those same students can call into the podcast to show other listeners that they are not alone. Yes, I understand that the college system is ran like a business and the people on the top are them to make money; however, with a podcast I will be able to show other students way to pay for their education that is not going to require them to pay back thousands of dollars back in interest on their student loans. If we do not help each other as students, then who will help us down the road to educational success.
