8 Years, to 18 Years, to 28 Years of Age by Kennedy - March 2025 Scholarship Essay

So much can happen in 10 years. Ten years ago, I was learning how to read. I was learning how to count, how to spell, how to behave, how to understand. I don't think I truly understood, though, just how important those steps would be.
Now, I'm 10 Mondays away from graduating high school. Ten Mondays before I begin preparing to move away from home. I'll prepare for college, for a career, for a family, for life. I don't think I truly understand just how important my education will be.
In 10 years, I will have graduated college. I will have that career. The one where I will teach students of the same solace I find in music, the career I've dreamed of having since I decided to take choir in 7th grade. Ten years of highs and lows, then I will have achieved my goals. I will have that family, one for which I've made a house a home. I will have that life; one I've made for myself. One I've weaved with good people, good memories, hard work, determination, tears of sorrow, tears of joy.
My education 10 years ago, today, through college, and from my continued life experiences is what will get me to my life 10 years from now.
Because of my education, I will grow to be a better person. I've seen both right and wrong in the hallways, my history classes, and my friend groups.
Because of my education, I understand what a good family looks like. I've learned from my own family, my friends, and my choir community.
Because of my education, I finally know what I want to be when I grow up. I've learned from my many amazing teachers before me who share a love for teaching and music.
Because of my education, I can make my life worth it.
My education has taught me many lessons, and there is still more to discover. I will continue to learn, prepare, and achieve. In 10 years, my education is what will have helped me get there.
