I love to learn. I try to take every opportunity available to sharpen my skills and broaden my understanding in various areas. Through formal programs and my work experience at Chick Fil A, I have developed a well-rounded skill set that has greatly contributed to my academic success.
I am extremely proud of my successful completion of the US Department of State Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program (CBYX) Program. This program provided me with a unique opportunity to immerse myself in German culture and language. Through this experience, I was able to improve my German language skills. I passed the Goethe-Zertifikat A1 Exam as a high school junior. This means I have proficiency in a foreign language but also highlights my dedication to continuous learning and self-improvement. The CBYX Program taught me the importance of cultural awareness and a global perspectives, which are valuable in both academic and professional settings.
In addition to my language achievements, working at Chick-fil-A has been instrumental in developing my soft skills. As a team member at Chick-fil-A, I have learned how to communicate clearly, teamwork, and customer service. These skills are not only important in the workplace but also in academic settings. Effective communication allows me to articulate my ideas clearly, while teamwork allows me to work well with others, for example on group projects. The customer service training taught me patience, empathy, and the ability to handle challenging situations gracefully. These soft skills have been invaluable in my academic success, helping me to interact positively with teachers and peers, manage my time efficiently, and approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset.
Informal education has given me self-confidence. The skills I gained from the CBYX Program and working at Chick-fil-A have reinforced my belief that I can achieve anything. My activities outside of school make me happy. The CBYX Program exposed me to different perspectives, inspiring me to explore and expand my knowledge beyond the program. Working at Chick-fil-A gave me valuable real-world work experience.
I have benefited significantly from informal education and it has played a pivotal role in my academic success by providing me with language skills, soft skills, and a passion for lifelong learning. My participation in the Department of State CBYX Program and passing the Goethe-Zertifikat A1 Exam were significant achievements for me. These accomplishments and my work experience have shaped me into a well-rounded student, prepared for the academic challenge I expect in college.
