My mind during life challenges by Kennedy - May 2022 Scholarship Essay
For most of my life my family have been barely getting by. Oh, I’ve kissed the lips of struggle before, especially while living in the city. But I never let my setbacks tossed my brightness out the window. These obstacles surprisingly made me more determined to set goals for myself that will benefit me in life. Your failures benefit you in the future because it helps you overcome obstacles, makes you stronger and motivates you to want better in life.
At the end of my eighth grade year, my family had to move in with my aunt because my momma was in and out of jobs and was raising five kids on her own. So yeah ruff was an understatement, from my eighth to ninth grade year my family was living with my aunt and her three dogs in a three bedroom apartment till my mom got back on her feet. My older brother sometimes had to miss school to watch my baby brother while mom was working, but because of this struggle period I look at mom with the utmost respect. It ultimately made mom work harder to get us out of that gutter and in less than a year she got the house she always wanted. We were in better living conditions, with more room, and it was a huge step up from where we were living.
So far my obstacles and I have an agreement, they can get in my way from time to time and in return I can overcome them and continue to push forward and do better. But from time to time I find myself in a holes where I don't exactly know how to push on. I don't exactly give up either, I just feel stuck. But I've learned that it takes time to become strong after a setback. Eventually you get used to the routine and it ultimately makes you want to do better so you won't be in that setback again which leads us to motivate ourselves.
Motivating myself is my favorite part of this endless cycle, youŕe being your own cheerleader. It's fun finding creative ways to improve yourself. I motivate myself by changing my environment, keeping track of my progress, and sometimes I work with others. These things motivate me to get more done especially when I start to procrastinate. I feel that switching your work routine with something you know could help can benefit you later on.
In conclusion, Your failures benefit you in the future because it helps you overcome obstacles, makes you stronger and motivates you to want better in life. The struggles I’ve experienced made me stronger and made me want to improve myself. Becoming strong takes time but with motivation, you’ll want to do better. And finally motivating yourself by adding progressive stuff to your work routine might benefit you in the future.
