My Experience by Kennedy - May 2018 Scholarship Essay

Christmas time and Thanksgiving are delightful holidays ... for most people. Not everybody has the privilege of coming home to a meal; Instead they are concerned whether they are going to eat that night. Every year I have the opportunity to change that.
Furthermore, Once or twice every year my girl scout troop (746) and I dedicate two to three hours packing thousands of meals for people in need. Everybody is assigned a job,then put our hair nets on and get to working. I always leave with a warm feeling in my heart because I know I did something good to help my community. I enjoy giving back to the community especially when I get to give it to them personally. Honestly there is nothing better when you are able to provide for those in need.
In addition, Community service has taught me that if you want to change the world, you can start with what's right in front of you. It has really opened my eyes and made me realize how fortunate I am. I would like to spread that wealth and make someone's day, even if it is just a friendly conversation. Community service is extremely important to me, someone could always use a helping hand. This summer I will be attending a cruz with my girl scout troop and one of our excursions we will be attending is an orphanage and we will be donating a bag of supplies and spend the day with the kids.
In conclusion, serving others is an experience that everybody should witness at least once in their life time.
