Believe by Kennedy - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
If there was one piece of advice I could tell younger students, it would be believe in yourself. That was something I had a hard time doing because I decided to listen to everyone but myself. Do not let anyone tell you that you cannot do anything or whatever you like is stupid. I made that mistake, I let people speak down on me and let them influence me that getting good grades is not cool. I know you probably heard this story a million times and said a million times, well that is not going to be me, but let me tell you, I said the same thing. I said I am not going to care what other people say, I am my own person, but yet somehow peer pressure got ahold of me. If I would not have listened to other people. I would have gotten the best grades, a better SAT score, and most likely would not be sitting here applying for scholarships, because my college would be paid for. I made the mistake of letting people get to my head and I do not want another child to make the same mistake I made.
Believe in your dreams and yourself and you can achieve anything. That is something I learned in my later years of highschool and it has brought me a long way. If I did not believe in myself at some point, I would not have gotten into a great school and most of all, I would not be able to make my dreams become a reality. If you have confidence in yourself, no one can distract you from where you are trying to go in life. No one will be able to knock you off track and you will be able to do anything. One important thing one of my teachers told me that I will never forget is that school is not a place to make friends, it is a race to see who will reach the top, you will have time to make friends later, start making your path to success now. I encourage you to make that path right now and I promise you in the future, you will be alright.
