Striving for excellence and accomplishing academic goals by Kenley - August 2022 Scholarship Essay

This upcoming year will be my second year in college. As a sophomore, I know a few things about college and have firsthand knowledge of what it takes to succeed during these critical academic years. This past year was very eye-opening for me. I learned how to be independent, for the first time, how to network and cultivate valuable connections, while ultimately learning how to strive in a new environment. This fall semester, I will be taking 18 credit hours. The classes I am taking this year are specific pre-requisites that are required for Pharmacy school, which I plan to begin in the fall of 2023. With this being said, an academic goal of mine this upcoming year is to make a 4.0 GPA and not only have a perfect GPA but to master the knowledge which is set to prepare me to excel in Pharmacy school. I am going to make it a priority of mine to not only study just to pass tests but to study for long-term memorization. As an aspiring Pharmacist, I will not take my academic preparation for granted and will use every opportunity to perfect my craft and strive for excellence. It all starts now with my unwavering dedication in school, even with the tedious pre-requisites. Even though this goal of mine will not be easy, it is my responsibility to hold myself accountable and remain fixated on what is at stake and what lies ahead of me. The decisions I make now affect my future more than I could ever imagine. I am currently employed as a part-time Pharmacy Technician, and I am also volunteering at my local hospital in the Pharmacy. These experiences have allowed me to witness different perspectives and gain insight into what my future holds. And as a young adult who has ambitious goals, this year I will be “all-in” with my schoolwork and get a hard-earned 4.0. My “all-in” approach will not only benefit me this upcoming year but will pave a road that will lead to a lifetime of academic success and personal fulfillment.
