William Shakespeare by Kendra - February 2016 Scholarship Essay

If I could have dinner with any historical figure, I would probably want to have dinner with William Shakespeare. He has always interested me throughout my life. I love his personality as shown through his works. He seems like the kind of guy who would write the funniest comedy movies if he were still alive today.
One of my favorite works of his was Romeo and Juliet. This is not because it was apparently one of the greatest love stories. I see this story as one that is sarcastic and a satire of teenagers. He shows a love story between these two teenagers who know nothing about how the real world works. They are both filled with adolescent emotions, and pay the price for it. I feel like a legit conversation with him would be very insightful and entertaining. It makes me wonder what kind of jokes he would tell if he were around someone like me. I wonder if he would take the fact that I am a teenager and say something about that. It is unclear exactly how he acted outside of his work, but I bet he was a guy who was never boring to be around. Although some of his work takes time to get to the point, I figure he would be different in real life.
Therefore, I would love to have dinner with William Shakespeare. I would love to have a long and deep conversation with him. He would probably talk for a very long time, cracking jokes, and talking about his legacy. I probably would not talk as much as him, because my life is not as complex and amazing as his was. I would hope that it would be an eventful evening, and one that I would never ever forget.
