The Choice Is Up To YOU! by Kendra - March 2016 Scholarship Essay

Studying abroad might sound great for some students, and others may not like that idea. Different experiences will come from both studying abroad, and staying close to home for college. I have never been one for “far away adventure”. Home is where my heart is, and I don’t have an inkling to go anywhere else to fulfill my desires to have a purposeful life. Studying abroad should not be required for every student because that is a choice a school cannot make. Students should have the ability to choose where studying would make them most happy. Living in the United States we often take things for granted and ask, “More! And more!”
Although studying somewhere else could satisfy the need for “adventure”, I’m not willing to lose the unique experiences I can have at home. There are many opportunities we miss because we are main focus is usually on self. If each person on the planet were to take a look out their backdoor, there would be an outstanding number of chances to live a purposeful life. College should be one of the unique experiences each person can have, all while making their own decisions along their journey of life. Walking your life journey should be the decision of one person, YOU.
