Parents play a unique role in their children's education and development. They are a child's first teachers and provide the foundation for learning and growth. A good parent can make a significant impact on their child's academic performance, as well as their personal and social development.
One way in which a parent can have a positive impact on their child's education is by providing support and encouragement. My mother is the parent who created opportunities and worked endlessly to ensure I would thrive. She understood the importance of looking at my challenges and ensuring that I would succeed despite my learning deficits. This included helping with homework, providing resources such as books and educational materials, and participating in my school activities and progress.
Another way in which she impacted my education was by instilling a love of learning and a strong work ethic. This involved setting academic performance expectations, encouraging curiosity and exploration, and promoting a growth mindset that embraces challenges and learning from mistakes. She negated all of the doubters of my progress and was positive in every small victory.
Overall, my mother, who is supportive, engaged, and committed to our family, has significantly and positively impacted my academic and personal development.
