A Hard Road Ahead, but Worth it in the End by Kelsee - February 2019 Scholarship Essay
Since I was around nine years old, I have known I wanted to become a doctor when I grew up. As I have gotten older, that dream has only altered slightly. I now am pursuing to become a Cardiovascular Surgeon. Being able to help change lives every single day would just be incredible. This will obviously be very difficult, but I am more than prepared for the challenges I will face.
I am currently getting my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering. The reason I chose this degree is that I wanted a degree I can use in my future career. The advances they are making in medicine are astounding, and being able to understand how these changes are made will help make me an even better surgeon. I am also working in a research lab to get experience to help with my medical school application in a few years. I have to constantly be thinking about how my decisions will impact my future applications and career, and I think I am doing a good job at it so far.
I can not wait to finally become a surgeon, but I know there are a lot of steps involved before I can reach that goal. I am prepared to work extremely hard, and push myself around every corner to get there.
