Are leadership skills even needed to be successful in college? I believe, yes, they are. For many reasons a student in college will come around and need to step up and be required to have leadership skills.

I belong to many clubs at Nashville High School like FCCLA, FBLA, FFA, and also Honors Society. In each of these organizations there are many students that step up to give speeches, and do projects or come up with different projects. These students get praised very highly in school! All of these clubs are teaching us more about having leaderships skills, so when we step out into the real world and go to college we'll have those skills. Having leadership skills means being able to step up and take control if need be, it means helping people, it means having a job and being able to do it right! Leaderships skills can mean many great things! So to college students, yes, it is so important to have leadership skills everywhere you go! You might even need/HAVE to use leadership skills in your future job everyday! Many opportunities there are to prove yourself and to step up and show your skills off. Leadership by definition means; the position or function of a leader, a person who guides or directs a group. Therefore you as a leader will be looked up to and people will expect to follow and be successful with you. Being a leader you are not only helping yourself, you are helping and guiding many others along with you!

College is a big world with big opportunities, if you don't go there with a leadership plan, you could miss out on helping yourself big time! So step up! Give it your all and get praised by your school and peers! Your future can benefit greatly if you make your decision now based on having leadership skills and using them!
