A Regular School Day by Kayse - January 2019 Scholarship Essay
I struggle to wake up in the morning. I have about 7 alarms to help me to wake up. After waking up, I wait about 15-20 minutes before the bus comes. In a 5-10 minute period I use the bathroom, put on my shoes, sweatshirt, and backpack before heading out to my bus stop. When I get on the bus I would still be tired, so I take a small nap until we get to school. When I arrive at school, I’m still exhausted because I was up all night doing homework.
I am more of a night owl than a morning person because night is the time that I can focus on finishing my homework. After eating and finish doing chores, I will start doing my homework. I try to be focused on my homework and avoid distractions. Sometimes I listen to music while doing homework because I grow bored when it is too quiet. When I am bored I begin to get tired. Somedays I watch Korean dramas, anime, or youtube videos, while doing my homework. Watching shows while doing my homework causes me to stay up later. Although these programs distract me from doing some of my homework, I’m still able to finish my work. I tend to be more productive at night because I am able to concentrate more with the pressure of deadlines and last minute work. I am not proud that I submit last minute work, but the usual deadlines for all of our homework to be turned in online is 11:59pm. There are times that I tend to procrastinate, but at the end of the day I am always able to finish my homework.
