Classrooms of the Future by kaylee - February 2018 Scholarship Essay
Education is changing at this moment. The use of technology results in advance thinking and expanding knowledge. Some of the future changes that have been seen in a classroom setting are: turning in assignments online through a portal, students using drive to save work and safe work that can be accessed through any technological device, group projects being done collaboratively through software programs, and online posting of grades where the student and parents can reach the teacher with further questions. One specific advance in technology that will be an integral part of education in 2038 is interactive projectors and technology that will replace whiteboards.
Let's imagine the future, a student opens up their biology textbook with a eukaryotic cell. Then the student puts on some special glasses and it is a three dimensional image that appears. Instead of just having a flat image in a textbook, the three dimensional image will be an interactive way for students to learn. The advancement of teaching methods will decrease the financial barriers teachers face when providing enriched learning material. Various styles of teachings will be accommodated by adding features such as interactive videos, sound, and images versus a text based learning setting.
For instance, a teacher assigns a research project on the importance of biology in psychology. The students won’t be limited to the traditional research and print paper method rather they can create a video, a projective description with images, or an interactive presentation where the rest of the class can learn too. These interactive approaches in a classroom setting can result in better academic achievement and can also help the teacher interact with her students. Allowing education methods to be more student centered rather than follow what constitutes the method of educating students will result in an increase of educational success after high school.
The extent of advances in education can create cooperative educational programs which students can benefit for their future career pathway. This is a network that would be created between the teacher, student and the outside institutions. The benefits of a cooperative educational program would be more flexible scheduling. These alternative learning environments will enhance a students educational intake because of the advanced technological features that will be part of the near future.
