There are approximately over seven billion people on the planet Earth, so with those odds, what are the chances of you thinking just like someone else? The chances of that happening is very high, that is why you have to try to be as original as possible and always be yourself. People are so accustomed to following trends and being brainwashed by things on television, the internet, and celebrities, making them lack originality and to not think for one’s self. If everyone thought, looked, and acted the same, there would be less people with their own ideas. That is why you have to think outside the box, so you can create, show individuality, and to add color to a dull environment of clones.
When you think outside the box, people can easily see your creativity and somewhat see who you are as a person. In certain situations, thinking outside of the box can solve a solution that no one would have even considered because everyone is too infatuated with what may seem “logical” rather than what can actually be practical. For instance, if you are making a tower out of graham crackers with a group of people for a science project, you would need another food substance to hold the graham crackers together. Everyone suggest things that make your skin feel sticky like syrup and jelly to hold the graham crackers together. After you all realize that it does not work after a few trials, someone thinks outside the box and recommends peanut butter because it has a better chance of holding everything together although it is not sticky. Thinking like that, helped solve the problem.
You can not be afraid “to think outside the box” because it may hinder you from getting promotions, getting acknowledgements for good ideas, or for having people realize that there are sometimes more solutions than thought were possible. Nobody should ever feel nervous for having an thought. The worst someone can say to you is that it can not work and the reason why it can not and being declined can help your growth. People who take initiative to think creatively, spontaneously, and whimsically should be applauded because there are several people who once doubted them at one point, yet, they proved them wrong. If no one thought “outside of the box”, we would not have electricity, smart phones, pants, television shows and many more things loved by many. That is why it is very vital to be as original and creative as possible.
