Becoming a Star Student by Kayla - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

Often times people are found making their New Year's resolution during the countdown to the new year. Whether there is an hour, a minute, or even a second until the new year is here, their New Year's resolution still counts. Though this is the case for most people I have always been a little different. I sit down and truly think about what my resolution is going to be, and as a senior in high school this year's resolution was a little easier to come up with. Any senior in high that is going off to college in the fall knows the struggle of trying to come up with the money they need to pay for their future education. My New Year's resolution that will help me become a better student in 2016 is work for everything never expect anything to just be given to you, so I plan to work harder and focus more on my schooling.
In order to go through with my New Year's resolution, I know I will have to spend more time studying and less time hanging out with my friends all of the time. I have to be willing to push myself to make me a better student. I want to become the student the teachers think is a star student. I will study more, spend more time working on my work instead of waiting until the last minute and then rush through it to finish it before it is due.
Every senior need to become a better student for several reasons, but most importantly because if they are a better student, then they will be more likely to get more money to help them pay for their college. My New Year's resolution will help me become a better student in the 2016 school year. My resolution is the work hard for everything and never expect anything to just be handed to me. In 2016 I will work harder and focus on my schooling.
