Accessing knowledge is to be gifted the chance to explore how to navigate life. Knowledge is a fundamental building block to a life that you desire. As an honors and AP student knowledge is significant to the success of your high school career as far as assessments. However, the knowledge that is intriguing to me is the lessons and skills I become proficient in by participating in my extracurriculars. Dance and photography are two art forms that hold great significance in my life, involve critical thinking, and require an abundance of knowledge. While dance involves movement in the physical, photography allows for connectivity with individuals through images digitally. The knowledge that I have accessed from these two art forms, both emotionally and physically, allows me as a young black girl to not be consumed by the limitations society has.

The knowledge that I have obtained from photography and dance is something that I have also utilized as a way to express myself and aid my community. Creating and performing art for local areas has also enriched my life experiences as well as constructing relationships with those around me. To be allowed to expand on these concepts that photography and dance provide would allow me to further my knowledge in my crafts. My potential and the possible impact that I could have on the world is my prime motivation. Academics and knowledge, in my opinion, are essential to the quality of life someone can obtain. Receiving the “Varsity Tutors” scholarship I, as a young artist, would be able to access a higher education to ultimately share the gifts of art with others and grant others with knowledge. That is my only dream.
