The Change in Green Hope High School by Kayla - November 2019 Scholarship Essay

Currently, I am a senior at Green Hope High School in the process of awaiting college decision letters. Preparing to leave high school in a few months, I am in the position of looking back on the memories I made and the lasting impact I left behind at this high school.

I am very proud of the impact I left from being a student ambassador. Our mission as a student ambassador is to make Green Hope High School a comfortable environment for new students and incoming freshmen. I am paired with a new student, give them a tour, and serve as their “buddy” for the rest of the school year.

Since I move every 3 years, I know how it feels to be the new student, so during my junior year I was on the committee to help create a new program, now known as lunch buddies. The lunch buddies program is held every Tuesday and serves to help new students navigate their struggles through high school. From this program, I have helped people succeed with their high school career, and some of the same people are now on student ambassadors too!

In conclusion, I feel confident that I left an impact on Green Hope High School. Even though it may have been a small action, the difference I created is carried out through the people I’ve helped. With the help of my classmates, I feel as though we made Green Hope a better place. There are more opportunities and options available for the incoming classes that we never had as a freshman at this school.
