Advice For a Freshman by Kayla - March 2019 Scholarship Essay

Being an incoming freshman can be a scary thing. Touring and listening to advice is a comforting thing that makes going into high school less freighting, and makes you more confident. As a senior in high school, one piece of advice that I’d give to underclassmen is to get you work done before the due date.
In high school, you have many different choices you can make. You can choose to watch Netflix all day at home and in classes, or you can work. Majority of the people I am around choose Netflix and I see them struggle to get things completed for class at the last minute. You also have many different homework assignments. It comes down to projects, essays, or worksheets and sometimes they all are due at once. Completing homework early has made life so much easier for me. You have more time for other homework, relaxing, and spending time with friends. Time management is a great concept to learn in high school because it will also prepare you for college.
All in all, do your homework as soon as you find time instead of putting it off until later. For papers and projects, that might mean writing a rough draft and going over it later when you find more time. You will find that you’ll have more time to do the things in life that you enjoy doing, while maintain good grades.
