Strategy for Successful Projects by Kayla - December 2017 Scholarship Essay

I want to start off by saying that a project, whether it being an independent or a group, takes a lot of determination. I believe that a project can't begin unless you have the drive for it. Another thing I would like to add is that your interest on the topic of your project should be considered. A project can be successful with these three simple strategies that I believe are helpful and have helped me also.
Firstly, a project should have some creativity. When starting a project gather some things that will help you make it stand out. If you are doing a poster project try using bold colors that will make you feel proud of your work. If you are doing a power point project include some visual effects that will add some fun to your work. I find that being colorful and bold is the way to get work done. You will begin to try and make your work more organized, and you won't feel pressured. If your work looks good you want the content within to also be as good as the overall look. You'll consider the words Quantity over quality.
Secondly, Plan ahead. You may want to go home or out with friends but I like to finish my work first before going out. The faster something is completed the more time you have to relax. Procrastination should not be an option and nothing should be submitted at the last minute. Become organized with your day-to-day schedule by setting things up in a calendar. A well set up day will make you feel like there is enough time for everything you want to do. If you don't have enough time find an opening in your well set up calendar. What I believe is that organization is the key to having a stable daily life.
Lastly, when in groups don't be afraid to throw in some ideas. Being in a group project is hated and accepted by many but in the end, it is just a fun time. When asking each other about ideas or days when you should all meet to continue a project, don't be afraid to include some fun activities. It's always a good idea to have some free time while going through something very stressful. Just because you will all be having fun does not mean that ideas will not continue. If anything, going out and enjoying yourself in the company of others can cause you to be more open-minded and can help with the flow of ideas that will make a fun theme for the assignment.
These are just three strategies that I myself use and find useful. Although projects are seen as exhausting and boring does not mean you can't make it into a fun and relaxing experience. I still believe that your interest in a project is the most important. If you do not find it interesting you can't have much fun since you do not have any ideas on the topic.
