To Learn or Not to Learn by Kayela - March 2018 Scholarship Essay

Learning, though it is difficult, is as important as any job or career you may have. At any point in time you may think you have learned all you can and that there is nothing more for you, however, I can almost assure you that if you were to be asked on whether or not you wanted to become successful you would say yes. Being successful and doing well in anything requires that you learn (whether it be skills or just learning through experience) and apply what you have learned. When you are able to say that you have learned something or when you have a understanding in something that's going on, there's a sense of accomplishment and you feel as though you are better able to contribute to what's going on around you.

Firefighters, for example, aren't just adults who woke up and became a firefighter that same day. They had an understanding and learned about what they were going to be doing and went to school so that they could train and learn the skills necessary to accomplish they their job to the best of their ability. The same concept can be applied to any other job or even everyday actions you may do. Think about all of the fun things you do (play sports, draw, play video games), and chances are you've learned how do do those things (you didn't necessarily just have the ability). Either way, learning is important in all that we do and will better aid us as we continue forward in life.
