Technology has completely transformed the way students learn, connect, and prepare for their futures—and my high school career is a perfect example of that change. From managing classes and athletics to volunteering in my community, technology has not only made learning more accessible and engaging but has also allowed me to grow as a student, athlete, and leader.

One of the biggest ways technology has helped me succeed in high school is by making learning more flexible and personalized. In today’s world, education doesn’t stop when the school day ends. Online resources, digital assignments, and educational apps have allowed me to review lessons, prepare for tests, and complete projects at my own pace. Whether it’s using Google Classroom to keep track of assignments or watching educational videos to better understand a topic, technology has given me tools to take ownership of my learning. This independence has taught me time management, accountability, and how to use digital resources effectively—skills that I know will benefit me in college and beyond.

Technology has also made collaboration easier and more efficient. In the past, group projects required everyone to meet in person, which could be difficult with busy schedules. Now, tools like Google Docs, Zoom, and messaging platforms have made it possible to communicate and work together anytime, anywhere. As both a student and athlete, this flexibility has been incredibly helpful. I’ve been able to balance practices, games, and academics more easily while still staying engaged in class discussions and group work. Learning how to collaborate virtually has also prepared me for the modern workplace, where teamwork often happens across screens instead of in the same room.

In addition to academics, technology has enhanced my ability to lead and connect with others outside the classroom. Through social media and digital communication, I’ve been able to help promote events, support fundraising efforts, and raise awareness for causes that matter to me—such as my volunteer work with the Kendyl & Friends Foundation. Technology allows nonprofit organizations like ours to reach a much larger audience and connect with families who might otherwise not know where to find support. Learning how to use technology responsibly to share information and advocate for others has given me valuable experience in leadership, marketing, and community engagement.

As a multisport athlete, technology has also played an important role in my athletic development. Video analysis tools, fitness tracking apps, and online coaching platforms have helped me improve my performance in both volleyball and softball. Reviewing game footage allows me to identify areas for improvement, while online training programs help me stay conditioned during the off-season. Technology has made it easier to communicate with coaches, manage schedules, and even connect with other athletes across the state. These experiences have taught me discipline, self-reflection, and the importance of consistent effort—all qualities that extend far beyond sports.

During my high school years, technology has also provided opportunities for career exploration and personal growth. Virtual college tours and online workshops have given me a clearer understanding of different career paths. I’ve been able to research college programs, connect with mentors, and even practice professional skills like resume building and interview preparation online. These resources have made me more confident about my future and more prepared to take the next step after graduation.
