How I Found Out What I Wanted To Do by Kaya - February 2025 Scholarship Essay

When I didn't know what I wanted to do my seminar teacher just had me research many basic jobs and I landed on Dental Hygiene. Never thought I would be interested in people's mouths but I was. I started to realize that when I meet someone the first thing I look at is their teeth and as I start to think more about it, I would enjoy being a dental hygienist. In anatomy when we did the anatomy of the face I was so interested in learning about the teeth but we didn't do much on it so I had to research it on my own. In the seminar class, we had to job shadow someone in the field that we were interested in. I job-shadowed my dental hygienist and I loved seeing what they did and how they treat patients. It's been a rough time trying to figure out what I wanted to do in life and what would inspire me but it was all because of my seminar class. Making me research a topic that I didn't know made me realize the career I wanted that I never thought I would want. I am now planning on going to college and studying dental hygiene all because my teacher pushed me to branch out and find what I wanted to do.
