Educating the Uneducated by Kaya - August 2017 Scholarship Essay
If I had the chance to educate people, I would educate them on something I know they could use. I would teach an environmental awareness class. I would teach this class because it is simply a subject that everyone should be informed about. People should know what is happening in the world they live in. I would teach about the ways each and every one of us could help reduce our individual carbon footprint and even our footprint as a whole.
The environment is changing. Global warming, animal extinctions, and even natural changes. In today’s society the subject of global warming is subjective and is deemed unimportant to most, but with our ocean levels rising, and our carbon dioxide levels rising, people will start to notice change and not know why it is happening. Our children’s children will be affected by these changes simply because their parents overlooked it when they had the chance to get educated and do something about it.
If I was ever given the opportunity to educate people I would use it to show people that the earth needs our help and is showing us every day. When you have the power to provide people with knowledge, it is something you must wholeheartedly dedicate yourself to.
