A great foundation by Katiana - July 2016 Scholarship Essay

Elementary to middle school, middle school to high school and now off the college. Throughout these past 12 years if my life, I’ve had the honor of knowing many astounding teachers and mentors. They not only were the ones who taught me how to read and write but they were also the ones who would give us different lessons. Lessons like don’t procrastinate, be yourself and always do your work. But then they would give us those life lessons that would follow us throughout life. Even though kindergarten was 13 years ago I’m still able to have a bond with my dear kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Bianchinni. She was the one who taught me to never give up on your dream but to be able to do that you must be able to believe in yourself.
We have all heard that saying so many times but hearing that from her meant so much more. In such a short time, she was understanding and so caring of not only me but my family and our beliefs. She has been teaching for years already and wanting to become a kindergarten teacher, she is the one who I look up too. Junior year in particular was the hardest year of high school. I experienced new changes and had to adapt to a new way of life. Keeping that lesson in the back of my head was the reason I worked so hard. Also, having many examples in my life was also the reason I was able to do so well.
At a very young age, kids learn by example. They learn and apply from the experiences they see around them. Mrs. Bianchini was my very first teacher. And because of that I was able to have a good foundation. She believed in every one of her students and I can say that made a big impact in my life.
