Chasing Dreams On Sunshine Road by Kati - January 2019 Scholarship Essay

In college, being a morning person isn’t something that is considered normal. Out of my peer group, I’m the only one who wakes up before noon. I enjoy getting the most important activities of my day done bright and early. Everyday is a fresh start, a way to achieve new accomplishments and get closer to your overall goals.
The morning is the time of day where I feel the best. My mind is clear and calm, I am ready to take on what the day has to offer. Feeling your best is a key to success, if you feel good then you do good. I have noticed that being a morning person has benefited me a lot in my school work. I can focus efficiently in my lectures more so then I would later in the day. Later in the day it becomes harder for me to be present in lectures or everyday tasks.
Being a morning person benefits my health in multiple ways. I’m someone who gets stressed out very easily at times. When I am stressed, I like to take care of the task at hand as soon as possible so that I can enjoy the rest of my day. I feel that being a morning person benefits my mental health. In college, it is known that your mental health may be at risk. Some classes can be really challenging, taking up a lot of your free time. If you have one class that you really need to work on, plus your other classes on top of that it can be stressful. Being a morning person gives me some space and time before my day begins to collect my thoughts. With this time that I have I am able to set a mind and body agenda for my day. This way I can clearly think and remove the sense of rush throughout the day I may feel. By having this time in the morning to plan out my day allows me to be more productive with my time.
Being a morning has also allowed me to get a better night sleep. Feeling rested is a key component in my school life. Sitting in class listening to lectures is much easier then being exhausted and barely keeping my eyes open. I can retain the information that is being presented to me and understand more clearly. I have also noticed with being a morning person that my want to procrastinate has become less. Another known thing in college is students waiting until the last minute to do their assignments, study, etc. By being a morning person, I can set a time aside to complete the most important tasks of my day. By doing this I do not feel as thought I want to wait until the last minute to work or complete an assignment. Knowing that I have a little or perhaps a lot of free time after my class makes me want to get started on larger more time-consuming projects.
Being a morning person allows me to complete more tasks in my day. It allows me to do well with my school works and to overall feel healthier. I think that being a morning person allows to me be very productive in multiple areas of my life.
