Although every major and degree in college requires different types of skills, possessing the character of leadership is a quality that could be essential in growing as a person academically and morally. Being a leader doesn’t necessarily mean having power and control over a situation or a group of people, but instead could simply refer to setting a good example for others and being someone to look up to. Of course, some careers such as Business Administration may need a person to possess these leadership qualities more than others; but in general, college should teach students to come out of their “shell” and show leadership to a certain extent.

It can be assumed that a majority of students going to college are aiming to become successful after obtaining a degree. These degrees are essentially useless if graduates aren’t going into the world with the confidence needed to get a successful job. This being said, leadership is an important quality to have that helps a student become more confident in themselves and their ability. All in all, leadership is something that all students should possess to a certain extent. College should help students learn how to become a leader and why it’s so beneficial to them.
