How Techology Has Impacted Me by Katherine - January 2020 Scholarship Essay

Technology is currently positively impacting my classroom experience. I am a non-traditional student. I also work full time. This means that I have a difficult time with a normal college schedule. I could complete night classes. I could attempt to do weekend classes; however, I also have a PRN job that requires working one weekend a month. This leaves my only option as online classes. The other issue is my chosen master’s degree. It is offered in very few schools and even fewer are completely online.
I have chosen to study Human Factors Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. I am able to study completely online and in an asynchronistic manner. This means that if my full time job happens to have a longer day one day, I am not rushing to meet an online class time. And on the weeks that I work six days when I have both my full time job and my PRN job, I can split up the time I spend in the classroom.
If I wasn’t able to use technology, I would have to give up two very good jobs in order to move to a school that has Human Factors Engineering. I am now able to study on my own time without having to commit to a set time.
