I'm more like a night hawk than a night owl by Katherine - January 2019 Scholarship Essay
I would say I am a night owl because I am most productive on days where I got to sleep all day and then just work tirelessly through the night. The amount of stuff I typically get done is pretty crazy when I think about it, I’m more like a night hawk—focused and driven. I have done this often and I seem unstoppable whenever I follow this routine.
My most productive time is a night when I have slept the day away catching up on sleep lost throughout the week and end up having too much energy to go to bed at a regular time. I end up feeling so refreshed and have so much energy that I end up feeling motivate to get everything on my to-do list done! This time is so motivating for me because I can cook myself dinner, clean my whole apartment, do all my laundry, catch up on homework, and do any other chores I have for myself. These nights are my favorite because I feel so motivated when I am completing the tasks and I feel even better having all the chores crossed off my list and being able to relax for a few days. I can never function without any sleep and so I find myself constantly taking naps in the afternoon from tiring mornings, so I am typically most productive at nighttime when I feel recharged and ready to face my responsibilities. I also find I do my best and deepest thinking at nighttime when I want to just get all my homework done in one go, I feel so motivated getting assignment after assignment checked off my list.
Overall, I would say I am 100% a night owl, I can’t seem to function in the mornings and I seem to be able to get everything done at superhuman speeds when I’ve had a nice nap and it’s dark outside.
