Throughout my educational years in high school, I’ve taken classes that can benefit my future goals for my career. The classes I’ve taken weren’t as challenging, but it improved a skill that I’m capable of doing that nobody hasn’t acquired. I’ve taken a class called Keyboarding since my freshman year, which it is a semester class that’s under the technology application category. I believe a Keyboarding class should be required to take in school as a way to obtain a new skill that’ll be beneficial to other classes and colleges.
Our society relies more on technological innovations, especially my school that lets students use technology for access to schoolwork. Majority of our work is either through Google Classroom, Google Drive, or Canvas. Since they’re all databases for teachers to hand their student’s work, it requires a lot of papers to type. As a student in high school that permits technology, most of my classmates don’t have the skill to learn how to type. Many students aren’t used to typing documents through computers since they’re focused on writing with utensils. Not only high school uses technology, but colleges tend to use technology as a quick access to giving students more work. The teachers expect students to turn in their work, which typing quickly can allow students to turn in their work on time. For the students, they only learn how to surf through websites after websites, but they don’t know the values of how typing can help the student through school. A keyboarding class can help the students learn a new skill that can be beneficial to them with their own work. It can improve their typing speed as they learn how to get used to their hands on the keyboard.
Keyboarding class has helped me finished paperwork quicker than writing with a pencil. It has improved my typing speed as I continue to type papers for essays. Since technology has a fast pace, students should learn how to type in a fast-pace too. This should be beneficial for schools to require a keyboarding class to help students enhance a skill they can take advantage of in the future.
