My Greatest School Accomplishment by Katherine - December 2016 Scholarship Essay

I have done many great things throughout my high school career. I have been able to be an Academic Idol all four years and I have managed to be a student-athlete all four years also. However, the accomplishment that I am most proud of was obtaining the Seal of Multi-literacy.
I am so proud of this accomplishment because this award shows that I am fluent in both English and Spanish. This award makes me proud because it reflects back on the fact that I love my culture and that I love being who I am.
In order to apply I had to create a portfolio about how Spanish has affected my life. I had to answer to five different prompts in less than 250 words. I then had to qualify to get an interview, and I did which made me extremely happy. I had to be interviewed in both English and Spanish and had to be able to keep a conversation going for five minutes straight. After my interview I had to write two essays, one in each language.
I received the email that I had received the Seal and I got so extremely happy because it reflects who I am. It shows that I am proud of my heritage and culture and that I am proud to speak two languages.
