Study Methods and Final Exams by Katherine - May 2016 Scholarship Essay
Knowing how to prepare for finals is essential to avoiding stress and gaining weight in order to ace every single one of your exams. I use a variety of study methods in order to prepare not only for my final exams, but in order to get an A or higher on tests provided throughout the semester. Taking any exam is stressful and is why I make sure I am able to get to the gym, get my spot in the library, eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and review notes and previous tests. I have found that making these changes not only to my diet but to my physical state helps me concentrate more on the task at hand. Studying for finals!
Before my I realized acquiring study habits is what you need to do during finals I use to cram, stay up all night, snack constantly and about every hour go back to being on my phone. These contributions did not help at all until I decided to enroll in a gym class that made students manage their time effectively and eat healthier. I even use to think that “smart” students were born that way until I learned that intelligence is fixed and regardless you have to stay positive and persistent when studying. Taking breaks and rewarding yourself with activities you enjoy is beneficial as long as you know that you are going to return to the process of studying after you had your fun.
Accommodating these study habits will prevent you from getting anxiety or reduce the chances of it happening. When gym time would come I would take my book or notes with me and multitask here and there. Throughout the day I will drink water and if at any time I feel hungry I will snack on a banana, apple or even take diced strawberries or nuts to keep my stomach satisfied. Eventually, when I will get to the library I will try and always get a study room or if they are all taken I will rent a white board and go sit in a spot of mine in the back. Its never to loud and I can concentrate without feeling like people are looking at me, picking up on random noises and thinking a loud. After you feel like you have obtained a steady pattern of studying, eating health and not wearing yourself out to thin you will grasp the concept of studying for finals and acing those exams!
