How I See Myself Continuing to Learn by Katelyn - September 2018 Scholarship Essay
In 25 years I will be 42 years old. I will have graduated college and lived life. In 25 years I hope to be married and have lots of children. I hope to have my career planned out by either being a stay at home mom or a teacher. But I ask myself now, where does my education fit into my life?
After high school, I will attend Washburn University where I will study to become a middle science teacher. Throughout my life, teachers have influenced my life for the better. Sometimes life at home is not the best, but a kid like me always had school to depend on. It was one thing that I was in control of. I was able to test my abilities in a subject and push my limits. A school was a place I felt safe, and the teachers insured that.
Being a young kid you may take your education for granted, but when you get older, you don't as much. With most career pathways it is required to have some sort of degree. That is why having an education is so important to me. Working through the process, going to college and getting a degree will pay off in the end. It will pay you back with an income and having a job.
I see myself continuing to learn throughout my whole life and not just after college. I have always been a curious student. Wanting to know more about everything we learn at school and in life. I'm always reading and looking up things I don't understand. I see myself continuing learning by joining a book club. I also plan to get my masters and hopefully become a principal or counselor in the future. My education would not stop just after I get my bachelors. In 25 years I will be a teacher, I will be teaching and inspiring young children to be whom they want to be and to get a further education. But they are the ones that will inspire me to keep learning. They are the students who continuously teach me about their lives, where they come from, who they are. And I believe that is the best type of learning because I would be learning from our future generation.
