The Journey To Success by Karlie - December 2015 Scholarship Essay
In ten years from now I hope to have accomplished a lot of different things throughout that period of time. The number one goal that I hope to have obtained is to be successful. It is one thing to want to be successful, but to actually follow through with your dreams is another thing. Being the first member of my immediate family to go to college is huge. I have set my expectations extremely high and I cannot wait to show my family that anything is possible if you put your mind to it and never give up. The very first goal I am working towards accomplishing is earning a Bachelor’s degree. I am starting my first semester at Northern Illinois University this coming spring to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with an emphasis in Health Administration. I have already earned an Associate of Science degree from my local community college and now am ready to expand my knowledge by furthering my education. I also plan to earn a minor in Business Administration as well while I am studying at Northern Illinois University.
I am a very passionate individual when it comes to the medical field. If I can contribute my skills and abilities to creating high patient satisfaction and efficient operations within a health care establishment, then I will consider myself very successful both career-wise and in life as a whole. Success to me does not mean a high annual salary, commission, or bonuses as it does to the majority of people competing in the workforce today. Success to me means being able to contribute to the success of your place of employment. Being a part of a team that does just that will be so fulfilling to me.
Moreover, when I earn my Bachelor’s degree and begin my career as a public health professional, I will only have that much more of an opportunity to grow. Growing within my place of employment along with growing as a person will be something I can sincerely treasure for the rest of my life. I consider myself a life-long learner and that will help me tremendously throughout this remarkable journey. I look forward to the day ten years from now and I can look back on my life and be able to consider myself successful in every aspect of my life. Until then, I will stay driven, focused, and ambitiously waiting to complete my ultimate goal.
