Kind Humble Chef winning Nobel Prize by Karla - December 2018 Scholarship Essay

When you hear of a Nobel Prize winner you think of scientist or doctor, for most of the time the reason why they are nominated is that they made some sort of difference in the world usually have a Ph.D. Knowing that Chef José Andrés is nominated for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize breaks the stereotype of having to be a scientist or professor to win a Nobel Prize. Chef José Andrés has been nominated for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize for his work with disaster relief through his non-profit organization World Central Kitchen. Even though it’s not the typical Nobel prize like an economist or chemist would earn still Chef José Andrés is still being nominated for one. One of my goals is to own a restaurant and to know that others are making difference in the Culinary Industry help me move forward into accomplishing my goal. So two qualities a recipient should possess is kindness and humility. It sounds cliche but they are very important qualities which I believe Chef José Andrés has for all the help and change he has made. If one is not kind to those around them why should they earn the Nobel Prize because the prize does bring in a big sum of prize money so the one to receive it should be someone kind for they will deserve it the most. As for why they should be humble it’s because they will be receiving someone of high admiration and awards thus why they should be humble so they do not brag about winning. So, in the end, any recipient of the Nobel Prize should possess the qualities of being kind and humble.
