Growth and Connection by Kara - June 2013 Scholarship Essay
College is not only a time to learn, but also a time to build lifelong friendships and learn more about yourself. It is a time to figure out what you love and where life could take you. College is a once in a lifetime experience that allows us to grow and become the people we are meant to be.
At community college, it is much harder to make friends and figure out who you are. Most students are there to get in and out, not meet people. It was not until I transferred to Azusa Pacific University this past year that I was able to meet people and grow as a person. I have learned more in the past year than I thought I could learn because I not only learned in a classroom, but on my own. As a communications major, I am constantly analyzing the way people communicate, which in turn helps me make friends. Meeting people has helped to give me make connections in not only my major, but also in photography, more specifically wedding photography. I know whether I am in school or a graduate, I will be able to achieve my dreams because of what I have learned in college, but also who I have met.
