My mother is my hero by Kaniah - March 2023 Scholarship Essay

I was fortunate enough to be born into a very loving environment. There was never a time in my life when I questioned the love my mother had for me. I have watched my mother struggle financially to raise me and my siblings on her own. My mother has worked very hard to make sure I have had the best education and I am extremely thankful. She has instilled in me the importance of striving to have a successful career. This has made me want a better future for myself. I am grateful that my mother always made sure I knew that there are many paths to take in life but the one I chose should be filled with happiness and success. This scholarship would mean so much to me and my family.

For me, going to college comes with so much excitement and joy but at the same time, the financial burden is a lot to deal with when you come from a low-income household. I know there are not many things that I can do to help my family financially but me getting this scholarship is one and it would make me happy to know that I did what I could to help make things easier. I would love to see my family proud of me for taking the steps toward financial freedom when it comes to college. I learned from being in Therapy that many things are out of my control and I now know that the one thing I can take control of is my future and I intend to make it great.
