Making Resolutions Become Reality by Kaleigh - December 2020 Scholarship Essay

My education resolution for 2021 is to be more organized in all of my classes. This semester I struggled with staying on top of my homework at times so I am going to try and be extra prepared for the spring. Not procrastinating and managing my priorities are going to be important to helping me achieve this.
Time management was difficult for me as I was trying to balance studying, sports, and hanging out with friends. Learning to make one commitment at a time is important to not overwhelming yourself. You can’t give your full 100% when you are trying to do three different things at once. It is okay to say no at times, you can’t always do everything. Choosing which is more important will decide how your future will turn out.
Not studying and staying up late will cost you especially in college. I found myself doing this at times and it did not go well for me. It is important to always be prepared and to get enough rest and energy. Your grades reflect your effort and the amount of time that you spend studying. Having good grades has always been a top priority for me and I learned that I needed to put a lot more effort into my schoolwork than I was at the beginning of the semester.
I have learned lots of lessons from being just one semester at college. Learning from mistakes that I have made has helped me to get in a routine that includes both schoolwork and hanging out with friends. This second semester I am going to spend a lot more time studying beforehand rather than the night before a test. Doing this will also help to reduce my stress level and help me be better prepared. Procrastination is easy whereas being prepared is harder to do. I plan on being prepared in all of my classes as well as in sports.
Since I am majoring in elementary education, I am going to have to be very organized. I want to be a teacher and learning to manage my time now will be crucial for how I teach in my classroom. I will be the one leading students so I have to be a good role model for them to look up to. Being a positive influence has always been a standard of mine and I try to live that out everyday! Hopefully this second semester of college goes the way I intend it to. Following my resolution will put me on the right path to making it come true.
